Daniel David Studios
Daniel David, a native and resident of the Bay Area, currently works from his studio located in the industrial district of Berkeley. Over the last fifteen years, David has invested his efforts into light fixture design utilizing concrete, copper, stainless steel, aluminum and glass. Other mediums have included abstract pastel and acrylic on paper, collage, black and white photography and, recently, as employed in the COCKTAIL COLLECTION, abstract oil on wood. The current technique utilizes liquid oil paint, poured over sheets of birch ply – no brushes are used in the process. The final result is a smooth, gloss-like finish with little texture.
David has shown his work over the years in galleries throughout the Bay Area. The focus of his work, if it were to be defined, is an attempt to capture and translate a subconscious thought into a physical reality. This collection marks a departure from the traditional relationship with a medium by allowing that medium to define the direction of the piece.
